Travelling by Air to Leicester

The closest airports to Leicester are East Midlands Airport or Birmingham Airport. The frequent and direct Skylink bus runs from East Midlands Airport to the city every 20 minutes during the day, and hourly at night. Birmingham Airport is accessible by train via Birmingham New Street. A number of students also use London Heathrow or Manchester Airports.
 
When you arrive in Leicester we recommend that you take a Black Hackney Cab (taxi) to your accommodation. Black cabs, although not always black in colour, will share a distinctive vehicle shape, and clearly display a licence from the council with a photo ID. Black cabs will be located at designated taxi ranks outside the bus and train stations. Alternatively, you are able to call the taxi companies below:

Travelling by Bus to Leicester

St Margaret's Bus station is situated a 5-minute walk to the centre of Leicester.
National Express coaches operate to/from the station, with destinations including London Victoria coach station in under 3 hours, as well as coach services to major cities including Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham and Gatwick, Stansted and Heathrow airports.
Travelling by Train to Leicester
Leicester lies on the London-Sheffield and the Birmingham-Peterborough lines. Look up your train journey on the National Rail website for information on timetables and fares.
