Pre-Sessional English

10 and 20 week English programmes designed to raise your English level and confidence before academic study

Overview

All courses at the University of Leicester and the Global Study Centre are taught in English. You will need to prove you have a proficient level of English in order to embark on your chosen degree. 

If you do not currently meet our English language entry requirements, you can enrol onto one of our Pre-Sessional English courses. Details of these are shown below.

The Global Study Centre’s Pre-Sessional English programmes are delivered by the University of Leicester Centre for International Training and Education (CITE). The CITE is accredited by the British Council and has nearly 30 years of experience in offering pre-sessional English.

Successful completion meets the English language requirement for all Global Study Centre programmes. There is no need to take another English language test, such as IELTS.

Please note that you must be aged 18 or above.

Study options

Successfully complete the English programme and progress into the Foundation or International Year One at the Global Study Centre.

Foundation in Economics and Management

Develop your fundamental knowledge and understanding of economics and management before progressing onto your chosen degree. 

Foundation in Engineering and Technology

Improve your fundamental knowledge and understanding of engineering and technology before progressing onto your chosen degree.  

Foundation in Society and Culture

Develop your knowledge and understanding of social sciences, humanities and culture before progressing onto your chosen degree. 

Foundation in Science

Broaden your understanding of scientific theories and disciplines before progressing onto your chosen degree, from biochemistry to geology. 

International Year One in Management

Alternatively, if you're looking to study a management related degree you may find that you meet the entry requirements for the International Year One.
