Sanctuary Scholarship

Discover whether you are eligible for our Sanctuary Scholarship

The LGSC sanctuary scholarship is a new award that offers opportunities for those who have been forcibly displaced from their homes and have been forced to seek sanctuary in the UK.

This scholarship consists of a full tuition fee waiver for an International Foundation programme at The Leicester Global Study Centre.

This scholarship will be awarded to one student wishing to begin their studies at The Global Study Centre in September 2023 or January 2024 who can demonstrate that they have the drive and ability to work hard and succeed.

 

Please Note:

Applications for the 2023/2024 academic year are now closed. Any application sent now will not be considered for the Sanctuary scholarship.

Eligibility

  • Must hold an offer for The Global Study Centre starting in September 2023 or January 2024 on a LGSC foundation program
  • Candidates must be unable to access mainstream funding (such as UK student finance)
  • Candidates must apply for the scholarship via our online application form
  • Candiates must be in the UK:
    • Seeking asylum in the UK 
    • Have been granted discretionary or limited leave to remain, following their application for asylum in the UK
  • Applicants must apply by the 6th August 2023

Exclusions

  • Scholarship is for September 2023/January 2024 entry only! This cannot be deferred
  • The scholarship is only available to students joining The Global Study Centre on a foundation pathway
  • Cannot be used for distance learning

You will not be automatically enrolled onto the Sanctuary Scholarship when you apply to study at the Leicester Global Study Centre on one of our foundation programmes.

If you are elgibile, you must apply below to be considered.

University of Leicester's Sanctuary Scholarship

Being successul for the LGSC Sanctuary discount does not automatically qualifiy you for the University of Leicester's Sanctuary Scholarship when you progress.

You will need to apply separately when you have passed your foundation year at LGSC.

Thank you for submitting your application for the LGSC Sanctuary Scholarship. Your application will now be reviewed and shortlisting will take place in due course. Following this, all shortlisted candidates will be invited for a welfare assessment to ensure that this scholarship meets your needs.

The successful applicant will be notified once a decision has been made.
